Five Men Injured In 18 Ft Ditch Crash At Bottom
Five men were injured, one severely, when an automobile from Charles City to Mason City sped and crashed after leaving pavement. The car struck a guard rail, tumbled into an 18 foot embankment, and wrecked. Speed was estimated at 60 to 75 mph. Lloyd Wiltse suffered a fractured hip, Jack Manfield serious with bruises, Fred Kleiser severely injured, Glen Sweasey with a possible more serious injury, Bill Burns shaken but largely unhurt. The car belonged to Bill Humans, now of Austin, Minnesota. Salvage of the wreckage appears unlikely. Alcohol bottles and the car’s license plates were found at the scene.
