1200 Bushels Apples From a 160 Tree Orchard
Iowa orchardist C. E. Dailey of Hill Crest fruit farm in Waterloo township reports his 160 bearing trees yielded 200 bushels of top quality apples, sold locally at an average price of 2 dollars per bushel. They were picked by hand in October, graded into three qualities, with No 1 at 3 dollars, No 2 at 2 dollars, and No 3 at 1 dollar. Only about 10 bushels failed to reach a dollar. Dailey prunes and sprays himself using a homebuilt 206 pound power sprayer, and expects the orchard to overwinter in good condition.

Teddy the dog saves life of baby in Colorado
In Lasalie Col a dog named Teddy, despite being a three legged mutt, barked loudly enough to alert a mother when her two year old nearly fell into Milton canal. The child slipped on a footbridge, became entangled by his dress, and nearly died before first aid saved him and the boy reunited with his loyal animal companion. A brief Courier note hints at a "For Sale Act" referenced by the salesman line.
