Donating Nonperishable Food Aimed For Needy This Winter
The Holiday Committee of Waterloo Social Welfare League urged public donations of nonperishable food to help families through winter. Baskets now often include perishables, creating feast and famine cycles. a central depot will receive and distribute items from schools and the Fowler building at Fifth and Lafayette. A permanent storehouse will be secured, and coordination with churches and individuals will prevent duplication of baskets. The drive includes reporting expected baskets and recipient towns to the committee, with funds and goods accepted at the depot. The Armenian donation plan was reconsidered, and the league will oversee food solicitation, collection, and delivery chaired by Mrs. C E Ransler with members including Mrs. A M Place, Mrs. P W Robertson, and Ada M Palmer.
