Two 18YearOld Girls Hike Waterloo to Oakland

Two Waterloo natives Ruby Stemmer and Frances Whitmire hiked from Waterloo Iowa to Oakland California in two weeks stopping in Oakland on their way to Fresno to visit Whitmire's brother Elmer. They kept walking when possible and slept outdoors every night enduring cold in Fisher's Pass. They carried two packs each with provisions and personal care items and spent exactly 1.27 dollars on the journey.
