Rendering Plants to Be Regulated in Waterloo

City council will review an ordinance regulating rendering plants at the next regular meeting. Drafted by City Attorney Burr A. Brown, the proposal includes sanitary rules and an annual license fee of FLANG. There is one rendering point now with another expected soon.

U S Now Operates 136 Miles Railway

The United States government reports 136 miles of the new Alaska railroad from Seward to Fairbanks in operation. Of the 136 miles, 71 are rebuilt Alaska Northern, 65 miles are entirely new. The line links Anchorage to Mantanuska Junction, with a 29 mile spur to the Mantanuska coal fields. Coal is now being hauled from those fields as work continues toward full through service by fall 1919. The 466 mile main line is valued at 25,642,000 dollars, with 11,000,000 spent to date. About 4,000 men are employed, with winter progress planned.
