A reminiscence on Tip Johnson son of William Johnson a Des Moines county pioneer who brought from Virginia his love of horses. Born December 26 1852 he rode harness race horses from youth and became known for square dealing. A fire at Station No 2 residence of Cart Miller 315 Randolph Street caused slight damage. Fire at Brass Fire west of Chicago Street was contained by chemicals.
Wilda Wilson won a district court verdict of 14805 against W H Prettyman for breach of promise. She sought 25000, alleging enticement into a primrose path. He admitted friendship and a signed settlement waiving damages for 195 but claimed his children objected to the union.
London reports Soviet forces have occupied several key towns north of the Crimean peninsula after hard fighting along the Black Sea front. Official Moscow statement dated Sunday lists Verekop Melitopol and Shadovsk among the towns seized, marking a Soviet advance about five miles south of Alxp endrovek near Sebastopol.
The Belt divorce petition was filed by Mrs Belt on October 28 in the Belt v Belt case. The record shows an entry on that date stating the petition was presented and a request to try the case on the same day as filing. The proceeding references Mr M Belt against V Leon Belt.
The defendant appears and waives time for hearing and consents that the request may be heard. The court finds it has complete jurisdiction of the parties and the state. The decree prohibits certain costs, maintenance allowed, and mailing privileges specified.
