Tax Commission to study tax methods of other states
Des Moines May 23. One of the first acts of the new board of assessment and review will be to visit nearby states with tax commissions to study methods and routine work. Wisconsin has long operated a commission. others may be visited by mid summer as initial duties shift from the executive council. Six candidates are under consideration for board positions with salaries of 4500 and 3000 for a secretary. The legislature provided no fixed funding beyond general support until June 30 1931. Names include John Foster Guthrie Center Louis Cook R E Johnson Addison Kiste and Warren MacHenry. A special fact finding committee of the legislature may study revenue and taxation issues for a report to the next session. The committee may work with the board or independently of it.

State council to name assessment board as housing moved downtown
The board of assessments and review awaits state executive council action amid a housing move of other state departments from the statehouse to downtown quarters. Rumor says State Treasurer Johnson has been offered a six year post on the board. The executive said he already has a majority of the board selected.
