Tinney Collapse Halts Comeback at Club Bagadó
Chicago May 17 Misfortune strikes again for Frank Tinney the blackface comedian as he collapses on stage at Club Bagadó during a comeback show after months of illness. More than 1,000 patrons witness the fall and fellow entertainers aid him. He is taken to his apartment and doctors stay with him overnight. He may be sent to New York when able. Tinney previously collapsed in Detroit last fall during Earl Cancell's Vanities and spent weeks in a Detroit hospital. He later moved to a Philadelphia government hospital. Friends cite anxiety over his night club debut and throat paralysis from the Detroit illness as factors, along with possible domestic troubles related to a divorce and property releases advised by a New York attorney.
