Bremer Pioneers Mark 99 Years of Married Life
In Gummer, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. A Munger celebrated their fifty ninth wedding anniversary with a family dinner hosted by daughter Mrs. J Wells. The couple, married in Independence in 1866, traveled from Banks township with 409 sheep, helped found Wilson's Grove, and built a schoolhouse for their children. Both are now widern and nearly blind, with strong memories of pioneer days. Mr. Munger, a Civil War veteran, served in the Eighth New York Cavalry and fought at Gettysburg and Antietam before settling near Sumner.
