Benton County Auditor Resigns Citing Ill Health
Auditor of Benton County Illinois, Wisquam, resigns due to ill health. His name appeared on the Democratic ticket for state representative, while he wished to withdraw his candidacy. The secretary of state ruled he could not order the withdrawal. Deputy Auditor George Ramstad, a candidate, is appointed to succeed Wisquam by the county board of supervisors.

Youth Sent to County Jail Six Months on Automobiles Charge
John Stohr, 18, of 49 Riehl street, pleaded guilty to operating a motor vehicle of the Founders company on Bay without owner’s consent. Judge H. B. Bates ordered six months in county jail. Walter Tompkins, 18, of 6212 Sycamore street, also with Stohr, was recommitted to Eldora boys training school after parole. County Attorney W. A. Cook prosecuted. S. H. Meyers defended.

Governor to Visit Vinton on May 25
Governor John Hammill will visit Vinton on May 25 with a train arrival reception by a committee. He will go to the College for the Blind, lunch with Lions Club, address the college, then attend a 6:30 dinner at the Country Club and speak from the courthouse square. A full committee setup is planned and he will be certified at Werner Strippel’s home.
