13 candidates for Iowa supreme court bench showdown

John McQuilkin member of the county board from the fifth district including La Porte City will not seek re election when his term ends January 1 1922. A Union Civil War veteran he moved to La Porte City in 1905 and first won election in 1876.

Kennedy Home Hosts Waterloo Guests for Friday Evening

Mr and Mrs JG Kennedy entertained Waterloo friends on Commercial Street for an 7 o clock interurban visit. The evening featured music and a three course luncheon with yellow and white decor and score cards. Miss Faye Goodwin and Ivan Kennedy served as attendants. Guests returned home later that night. The Ladies' Literary Circle met Friday afternoon at Mrs WG Kallhelm with strong attendance and a program by members. Jesse Daggett, son of Mr and Mrs Walter seek, enlisted in the army and left for Camp Dodge on March 17, returning home for a visit after training. Mrs Fred Shannon arrived from out of town to visit sister-in-law Mrs Grant Salmon in Waterloo before heading home to Herbertton. Edna Bauer, daughter of Mr and Mrs Mid Bauer, recently discharged from the Nachyterian hospital after surgery, is home recovering. George Abel, recently released from Waterloo hospital, remains in frail condition.
