Voting law changes make ballot circles easier to use
The new voting law allows a mark in the circle at the head of a ticket to count all candidates on that ticket or split votes between tickets with circled and squared marks. Voters may also write a name and mark it, or leave a circle unmarked and count X marks on both tickets. Ballots spoiled may be replaced, and limits on ballots are set.

Suit to test Iowa highway law in Des Moines
In Des Moines on March 27 the Fort Des Moines road paving case was submitted to Judge R M Wright in Story county. Thomas Carey, contractor, seeks an order forcing the Iowa highway commission to approve a 4 07 contract for bithulithic paving made by Polk county board of supervisors. The commission refused and Carey argues new laws are unconstitutional as they bar the board from performing work within its province. Arguments lasted two hours. briefs were filed and Judge Wright promised an early disposal for the May term of the supreme court. It is hailed as one of the most important cases under the new law and will be watched by highway men contractors and the public statewide.
