Travelers marooned at Iowa Falls for 48 hours

About 250 passengers travelling from the southwest to the Twin Cities and Minnesota points were stranded in Iowa Falls from Saturday morning until yesterday because of blockages north of Albert Lea. The St Paul and Kansas City line halted the through train from Kansas City to St Paul at 9 37 am. The line provided meals and housing while the delay persisted. A woman bound for Rochester for an essential operation and a 13 month old baby fell ill and were cared for in a local hotel by railroad officials.

Girl Shot Self While Demonstrating Revolver

Margar et Nachtrieb, 14, of Eldon, shot herself at home while showing her baby brother how a pistol worked. She was brought to Ottumwa and placed in a local hospital in critical condition. The bullet penetrated just below the left breast.
