German rail link to Tabora eyed as political lever
The Deutsche Kolonialblatt reports the Central African Railway from Dar es Salaam has reached Tura and is 83 miles from Tabora. It is laid at about 16 miles per month, aiming to reach Tabora next spring. The project, while commercially valuable, is chiefly political, tied to a Belgian transafrican line concept. Belgian and German lines would form a continent-spanning network, with ongoing surveys and capital adjustments signaling serious intent.
