Hudson-Essex manufacturers announce a shift to advertising exclusively in newspapers. W. J. Keefe, local Hudson Essex dealer, states that the United States is divided into 26 zones with uniform prices for cars delivered to customers’ doors. The quoted price includes freight tax and equipment.
Dodge Brothers dealers in the United States report February shipments of 18,516 passenger and commercial vehicles, a 25 percent rise from February 1925 and a 24 percent gain over the January period. Through February the year shows 43 percent higher deliveries than last year, with factory output exceeding 1,300 units daily and production soon rising.
Detroit March 10. Rickenbacker president Gap El Rickenbacker outlines 1926 Deluxe models with open or closed types delivering high upholstery, finish and trim quality under the slogan Built Up to a Standard Not Down to a Price. He notes customer preference for deluxe over standard and highlights coachcraft advances as postwar features spread among makers.
Public safety advisory warns that thousands die in grade crossing crashes yearly. It urges drivers to stop or slow, shift gears, and only cross when no train is approaching. Remember to proceed with caution at all crossings.
A survey by the Iowa Homestead shows 4,249 automobiles sold in Iowa in January 1926, with 68 percent purchased by farmers. Rural counties accounted for the majority, and Polk County led with 232 sales to Black Hawk.
The survey records 179 new car sales and 42 267 Fard models, over half of January’s state total. It also notes 05 745 passenger cars in the state on January 1, 1926, up from 29 105 the previous year.
Kenosha Wisconsin March 10 February the short month of the year was the greatest month in Nash Motors history. Production of the Nash built Ajax Six reached a new high during February. Total output of the Nash Automobile plant was 14 148 cars. Nash surpassed its previous record month August 1925 by several hundred cars. E H McCarty general sales manager noted February marked the eighteenth consecutive month Nash sales exceeded the prior year.
Oshun Motor Car corporation will stage a Studebaker Big Six automobile show in its show rooms on Park Avenue East between Bucamore and Lafayette streets starting late this week. B. M. Oshun announces the event as the firm reports lively business at its Codoy Rapids branch. Studebaker president Kine notes 1925 wages average 21,077 and 1925 net earnings of 261,362.9 with 134,664 cars sold versus 110,240 previous year.
The article touts Studebaker as producing off bodies and all car engines, plus clutch components, gear sets, springs, differentials, steering gears, axles, gray iron castings, and drop forgings. It emphasizes Unite Built construction, with dozens of parts and systems designed to work as units for longer life and higher resale value, and lists various Standard Six and Special Six models with pricing and trim variants.
By January and February last, a one shot system of centralized lubrication led Va9 percent ahead of the 1926 figures. Chandler's own steering method with a patented flexible coupling in the sleeving shaft improved handling in traffic and on the open road.
