Franklin County Vets Convert Farm Goods for Legion Membership
Des Moines reports a Franklin County drive where farm produce including horse collar, chickens, butter, meat, canned fruit and eggs were exchanged to fund American Legion memberships. A farmer lacking $3 for dues sold his old horse collar to marshal funds through Legion salesman Harrison, who then bought veteran goods and distributed 1925 membership cards. The local Rolfe post has passed a resolution in support of the drive.

Cost of Service and Bell Rates Affected by Tech Advances
The cost of service faces pressure to attract and retain high grade workers essential to U.S. standards. Bell telephone rates have risen less than other prices due to innovations in methods and equipment. A large share of operating plant remains at prewar prices, though this is shrinking as new construction meets national telephone needs.
