Farm tractors exempt from taxation under Iowa ruling
An Iowa attorney general opinion finds farm tractors are exempt as ordinary farming tools, while threshing machines are not. The ruling notes tractors used by farmers are essential equipment, with Black Hawk county alone estimating 300 tractors. Assessors await guidance, but tractors listed may be exempt by the assessor or county auditor based on the opinion.
