Conductor Fatally Injured In Piano Accident
Estherville Iowa June 28 R F Munson conductor for the M and St J railroad was killed instantly at 9 am while helping unload a piano from a box car at the station. The piano slid from a station truck and pinned him breaking his neck.

Death of Abel Hoag Prominent Manchester Citizen
Abel Hoag died suddenly of acute Brights disease while visiting Valley Junction. He was born October 3, 1857, in Oneida Delaware county and lived in Manchester since youth. Survived by his wife Retha Conner and four children, his mother Mrs. M E Hoag, siblings in Manchester and Michigan. Funeral arrangements not made.

Third Artesian Well Completed in City
The city finished its third artesian well after a year of work costing $12,000. Located between First street east and Mullan avenue and between Sycamore and Lafayette streets, it reaches 1300 feet and is among the largest in the region. The Whitney Well Company drilled through rock to limestone beds, with water sourced from Jordan or Potsdam sands. Samples were sent to several professors for analysis, and once the engine is installed the plant will add 1,500,000 gallons capacity.

Circus Day Free From Grime in Waterloo
Waterloo enjoyed a crime free circus day with no police complaints. Twenty three officers worked all day and night, some in plain clothes, to prevent pickpocketing. A few arrests for drunkenness occurred, and the circus departed for Marshalltown with crowds returning home after performances. Order on grounds and city streets was strict, boosting Waterloo as a well regulated show town.
