Maytag Two Cylinder Car Strenuously Towers Threshing Separator Test

In Watertown an unusual test linked a Maytag two cylinder car to a 1200 pound Advance threshing separator. The car hauled the machine over rough ground down Railroad avenue and through tracks, demonstrating exceptional power. After the run the RepATator was returned to the threshing company yard for further demonstrations to other car owners.

Mt Josephs Girls Graduate With High Honors

Miss Charlotte Mann daughter of Mrs C J Fullerton and Miss Harriet Ade daughter of Mrs Charles H Ade graduated with high honors from Mt Josephs College in Dubuque. Nine teen pupils formed the class as Waterloo young women performed a piano concerto during the program. Mann is the mount’s oldest pupil after nearly eleven years in the school. Dr and Mrs O J Fullerton and Mr and Mrs Ade attended the commencement and hosted the graduates on their return. Ade recently arrived from New York City after attending a Water Works convention and will reside in San Antonio Texas.

Waterloo Elks Plan for a Big Time at Sioux City

More than 150 Waterloo Elks will travel by Illinois Central train next Tuesday evening to the state convention in Sioux City with the Cedar Fails band. The party will make a 30 to 40 minute stop at Webster City for the band to play and locals to enjoy a taste of the Waterloo War before a two hour stop in Fort Dodge continuing the same program.

Waterloo Women Return From G A R Encampment

Mr and Mrs J W Krapfel Mrs Co J Bingham Mrs J W Cranston Mrs S P Turpening Mrs J L Rose and Mrs Cottrell returned from Luscatine where they attended the G A R encampment and department meeting of the Ladies of the G A R. The Waterloo group exemplified the ritual for the fourth time at state gatherings and were praised for their work. The banner circle has over 180 members and Grace Seebers was named department president.

Lore Alford Honored At Iowa Abstractors Meeting

Des Moines June 16 E M Cross of Des Moines was elected president of the Town Abstractors Association as Des Moines won the 191% convention bid over Keokuk Waterloo and Ft Dodge. Other officers include Vice President Sherwood A Clock Secretary George E Whitcomb Treasurer H C Madden and executive committee members J H Henry Lore Alford S K Hart and W F Carlton.

Iowans Seek White House Aid After Washington Arrests

Two Iowa visitors travelled to Washington to seek President Taft’s help over long standing land disputes. Both were arrested before meetings Could they face asylum confinement. One Mason City woman was detained at the White House and later placed in Washington Asylum Hospital. The other, 72 year old Crawford county farmer Jacob Rusterholz, was detained at Union Station and would seek mortgage relief from Taft.
