Governors Favor Extra Session to Tackle Flood and Taxes
At Mackinac Island a majority of state governors urged President Coolidge to call an extra congressional session this fall to address flood relief and control, farm relief, and tax reduction. They stressed national flood responsibility and eased burdens for Mississippi disaster areas. Senators Smoot and Harrison agreed on an emergency session to push tax reform followed by flood measures.
