City Adopts 1928 Budget With 69.46 Mill Tax Rate
City council approves tentative budget of 772,504 for year starting April 1 1928 with 523,442 to be raised by taxation and 198,143 for waterworks. Millage set at 69.46, down about 112 mills from last year. Reductions: waterworks 201,893 to 198,143 playgrounds 11,771 to 7,500 riverfront 89,570 to 7,500 library 37,650 to 37,000. city expenditures under direct jurisdiction cut by 14,283 from prior year.
