Herring Maps Nine Department Plan For Iowa Government

Des Moines Democratic nominee Clyde L. Herring unveiled a plan to reorganize Iowa state government into nine departments. The proposal would merge 41 boards and bureaus into finance, agriculture, registration and education, labor, mines and minerals, public works, public welfare, trade and commerce, each led by a director. It includes a budget system and shifts several agencies into new departmental control to streamline state operations.
