New Hampton Iowa July 24 A sixteen year old girl Mary Slinger living four miles south of Charles City stood on a track and halted a fast eastbound Milwaukee night passenger. She claimed her mother was dead in Kenosha Wisconsin and she must reach there. The conductor found her short of cash and a wire was sent to Sheriff Titten who met her at the train and escorted her home with her father arriving to take her back to the farm.
