A staged blaze in a 22 by 27 foot pit used 450 gallons of oil and 33 gallons of gasoline to simulate an oil tank fire. R C Leverenz of Foamite-Childs corp led the controlled burn that rose flames to 75 feet for about 15 minutes before officials halted the mock conflagration.
A firehose mixed water with low effect while a Foamite generator released Fire Foam on the oil blaze. The foam sealed and extinguished the fire in under 15 seconds. The demo also showed Foamite being pumped through a tree standpipe to simulate an oil tank system.
