Funeral for Leighton Derry after Happy Homecoming accident
In Woodbine Iowa on July 12 a fatal oil field accident killed 41 year old Leighton Derry. He carried twenty six thousand dollars in his person and died beneath a car his father was driving. Knight testified at the L. D. 5S. Gilbert church service that he would write home. The body was taken to Lamont Indiana for burial.

A young boy died after his father Mr Derry, a Watkins Medicine salesman, returned home from Woodbine. His two children ran to greet him. the girl climbed in while the boy stood on the running board and fell under the car. Despite the father stopping at once, the lad was fatally struck.
