Jesse M L Gilbert of Prairie City a son of a deceased local man is missing after traveling west from Newton Iowa. He received 31437.28 from the estate March 20 and has about 11 000 in real estate deals. Search efforts meet no trace. he is believed to be within 380 miles of his destination when trail ends with about 2000 still due from his father's estate.

Funeral for Leighton Derry after Happy Homecoming accident

In Woodbine Iowa on July 12 a fatal oil field accident killed 41 year old Leighton Derry. He carried twenty six thousand dollars in his person and died beneath a car his father was driving. Knight testified at the L. D. 5S. Gilbert church service that he would write home. The body was taken to Lamont Indiana for burial.

A young boy died after his father Mr Derry, a Watkins Medicine salesman, returned home from Woodbine. His two children ran to greet him. the girl climbed in while the boy stood on the running board and fell under the car. Despite the father stopping at once, the lad was fatally struck.
