Waterlond Illinois Central Picnic Plans Big Day July 25
The Illinois Central hosts a River and Wiectrie park picnic on July 25 with a daylong program. Water events, trapshooting, canoe races, a live duck chase, boxing, dancing, and a major baseball game Waterloo S C shops nine versus Cherokee chops lead the day. A $125 purse goes to the winning team, old fashioned barbecue planned, fireworks outdoors, and trains from Illinois Central officials expected. 20 900 picnickers anticipated.

More than 100 delegates from the Fort Dodge district of the Luther league of the Swedish Lutheran church gather in Mason City for a three day convention opening today. The gathering follows a series of devotional meetings concluding Sunday.

J. A. Dunkel of Webster City submitted the low bid on a grading project in Winneshiek County for a 6 mile country road segment from Spillville to the Howard county line. Bids call for removing 26 558 cubic yards of earth, 3 05 units of loose rock and 4 588 of solid rock with Dunkel’s earth bid 32 cents and rock at 1 25. Total bid amount listed as 18 650 81. Other bidders included S&S Groves & Sons Minneapolis and M & S Construction Co Sioux City.

Rock and earth removal bid on Decorah-Cresco road project
Dunkel's bid of 9120.35 dollars tops the bids for removing earth and rock on the Decorah-Cresco road. Engineer estimates indicate the rock portion equals about 3,152 cubic yards in loose form and 2,799 cubic yards in solid rock, roughly doubling the earth volume.

Bridge Contract Lets In Bremer County Areas
The Ossian and Eldorado road relocation near Winneshiek will move about 900 cubic yards of earth and 2300 cubic yards of rock with bids ranging from 3710 to 6377. Dunkel led the bids for this job which includes some clearing. Waugh Tack Man Clarksville won a bridge contract for 16 culverts at 39680 with other bids rejected as county proceeds with day labor.
