Weet Union Man Charged with Murder After Three Girls Run Over
Dale Holmes, 20, was charged July 4 with second degree murder and released on $2,000 bonds. A June 20 collision two miles south of West Union left 8-year-old Gladys Nelson dead from a skull fracture, her sister Helen injured, and Pearl Avr and another girl lightly hurt. The incident occurred as Holmes drove at high speed after a dog, striking the three girls as they attempted to ride, with the driver Roberts also injured.

Belgian Soldier Dies After Treatment At University Hospital

Tragedy at Prescott Grade Crossing Kills Williams Family
Prescott Iowa July 7 a Burlington train struck an auto at a grade crossing killing Mrs Williams 24 instantly and her husband 44 and their 6 year old son died en route to Creston hospital. Three children injured though not seriously. The car was hit center and thrown over 100 feet. The family was returning home from Prescott.
