Union Mill Would Sell Power Right
Waterloo and Cedar Falls Union Mill Co directors authorized selling the water and power right in Waterloo if a satisfactory offer arises. The city has been offered a chance to buy the water right while negotiations continue with Citizens Gas & Electric Co. The mill will delay building a dam until negotiations conclude, aiming to secure water power for two to five years and then electrical power. Judge Franklin C. Platt urges the city to build a dam and power plant, suggesting the city could sell power to the mill for part of the day and use the rest for street lighting and public buildings.
