Des Moines reports Iowa state Senator Sherman W. De Wolf of Reinbeck plans a bill to abolish the present state board of education and replace it with a three member governor appointed board to manage educational institutions. He argues the current board is undemocratic and that local control, with school decisions guided by the senate, would better reflect taxpayer interests and policy. The proposal includes shifting authority from a finance committee led system to direct governor appointment and senate approval.
