Wilson rejects Hamiltonism in new Wilson essay
The February World’s Work prints the second part of President-elect Wilson’s The New Freedom. He repudiates Hamiltonian principles, argues the rulers are capitalists and manufacturers, and says the people have little voice in government while warning against demagogy. Extracts discuss two theories of governance, praising popular rule and opposing the view that a few should guide prosperity. The piece cites critics and lists a long set of names and places connected to the family notices.
