Milk Strike on Chicago as Farmers Refuse Dealers' Figures
Milwaukee and Illinois dairy farmers in the Pure Milk association declared a stand against Chicago dealers paying only 2.50 per hundred pounds. With seven thousand members producing about 9,000,000 pounds daily, the strike could cut two thirds of Chicago’s milk supply. Cremeries and condensaries may absorb much of the output as legal action under cooperative marketing laws is cited to enforce contracts.
