San Francisco boxing editors deem the Gunboat Smith versus Arthur Pelkey bout a disappointing heavyweight spectacle. Smith wins in the fifteenth round with a full arm right and a skull-base chop. Pelkey, lighter by about twenty five pounds, showed early cleverness only in the first three rounds. Critics say Smith was wild and exposed, while Pelkey offered little after the early moments.
