Draft Resister Jumps From Train to Evade Service
Des Moines reports Albert Teras of Minneapolis a draft resister in Camp Dodge base hospital fighting for life after leaping from a Rock Island passenger train seven miles from Des Moines. He was briefly free from guard when he opened a coach window and fell to a steep embankment, suffering a severed spine and probable internal injuries. Teras was being moved from Fort Snelling with Axel Moline of Duluth. Moline remained handcuffed.
