Three-I league berths shield Cedar Rapids and Moline

Cedar Rapids and Moline will each retain berths in the Three-I baseball League for the upcoming season after Chicago officials approved the franchise grants. The move appears to block Waterloo from organized baseball this year, as discussions swirl about reviving the old Central Association in eastern Iowa. A Cedar Rapids meeting followed the Chicago week, aiming to form a circuit including Waterloo and Cedar Rapids, but Three-I decisions seem to close that door. In Chicago, the majors adjourned to finalize schedules and a new national commission chairman remained unresolved while the American and National Leagues held sessions.
