Western factories face higher steel costs after war
Alihe steel and iron producers cut prices by four dollars a ton but western manufacturers in the cen pind west, producing 96 percent of farming implements, will pay more than wartime levels due to higher freight charges. Steel and iron are now billed from Pittsburgh at twenty six cents per hundred with a forty six cent freight rate, offsetting raw material savings.
