Young minister takes own life in Michigan town
J W Pouma, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church, committed suicide by poison and hanging in Primgharta, leaving letters seeking forgiveness. The 35 year old, single preacher had ties to Hope college and transfers from Reform to the Methodist church. His death follows a missing Thursday evening and a failed weekly prayer meeting. His mother resides in Hamilton Michigan and he had a brother in Michigan. Franklin County Lump-Phone records the case.

Farmers dominate Iowa House with attorneys second
In Des Moines on December 28 the 108 members of the Iowa House of Representatives in the Thirty-eighth General Assembly are largely farmers, active or retired, with 14 from Lille representing other occupations. In the Senate 50 members include 17 farmers, six who combine banking and farming, two publishers, four bankers, two farmers and stockmen, and 11 with miscellaneous occupations. The House shows 28 occupations used, with six bankers among the nonfarmers and no surgeons. The session opens January 13, and many members have arranged quarters and will arrive in Des Moines after the new year as caucuses prepare to select officers.
