Loren Murchison Remembered for Wins in Olympic Lore
New York December 19 UPI two Olympiads eight years ago Loren Murchison of St Louis now in a arm traced with death at Decatur UL became the acknowledged king of all sprinters at the short distances. A veteran of the 1920 and 1924 Olympics, he was a mainstay of the United States track team at Amsterdam next year, until cerebral meningitis cut him down. He rose to national prominence in 1918 by winning the National AAU 220 yard title, then the 100 yard dash in 1920 and the century in 1923, also excelling indoors from 60 to 300 yards. His early speed made him formidable in short races.
