Feeder Stock Demand and Iowa Grain Movements Highlight Farm News

Des Moines reports show attention on livestock feeding and farm enterprises as a key Iowa industry. The state agriculture department notes a feeder stock shortage of 10 to 16 percent for cattle and hogs, with 30 to 35 percent fewer feeder sheep versus last year, suggesting potential profit in a limited market. Corn shipments are down from last year while grain markets reflect larger harvests, and corn warehousing expands with official sealers operating in many counties to aid growers.
