Cedar Rapids police hold J. G. Woodward and John Kelly for robbing Henry Jones at Beverly Junction last night. Body at Petersen Bros mortuary pending funeral arrangements.

Black Hawk County Early Settlers Association held their annual picnic at Hanna's Grove with residents recalling frontier travel before roads and bridges. Honors for longest residence went to Mrs. Curtis Ford, Cedar Falls, who arrived in 1852, and oldest attendee was C F Brown of Waterloo past 90. The gathering honored many settlers from the 1850s, including Mercy Lawless and George Baker, with remarks by A H Holt and a program by the group.
Osage Sp August 27 The Illinois Central depot office safe was blown open around 2 am by nitroglycerin. About 53 in silver and bank notes were stolen. The door was blown from the strong box. Agent W W Cundiff found the robbed office this morning. Finger prints on the door are the only clue.

Four youths and two girls died instantly when their car was struck by the Red Wing passenger train at the Daniel Webster highway crossing in Tilton New Hampshire. Gail Nelson son of former state senator Julius A. Nelson was arrested in Milwaukee on a wife desertion charge and will be returned to Iowa for trial. Deputy Sheriff F. P. Edwards headed there to bring him back. Nelson married Mildred Jones of Atlantic at Adel on August 15, 1925. he allegedly deserted her a month later.
