In Marion Indiana on August 27 Warren T. McCray the Republican nominee for governor arrived near the courthouse square to address the Rotary club. A patrolman halted the car after it was found traveling the wrong way on a one way street. McCray apologized and the vehicle was turned around.
Maj. James McLaughlin, nearing 50 years in the interior department, is to be retained on active roll for efficient service. Secretary Payne and the civil service commission approved. Born in Canada, he lived among Sioux in North and South Dakota since 1871 and played a leading role in Indian treaty negotiations and claims cases. He once supervised Standing Rock when Sitting Bull was killed.
At Camp Good Hope on Saranee Lake Mrs. Edward RF Hutton hosted a servant celebration inviting 1250 staff and friends.
