Waterloo East Plans New Year With Kline and Expanded Curriculum

Waterloo East prepares for the new school year under C. W. Kline as superintendent after A. W. Chamberlin resigns. The district adds normal training and agriculture to the high school program, with N. C. Olson to lead the normal course and a full slate of seasoned teachers across subjects. The board also reshuffles roles, maintaining strong commercial and manual training offerings, and announces Miss Frances A. Grout’s departure with County Superintendent Harry A. Moore named principal in her stead.

City council votes to raise water tax and discuss other items

Last night Waterloo city council spent three hours on petitions and resolutions. They voted to raise the city water tax by two mills while the proposed library tax failed. A lighting company plan to relocate forty street lamps was approved with shared costs. Community projects on sidewalks sewers paving and roads were noted. A sanitary inspector will be created to inspect meat markets dairies and restaurants. The season’s big day features a free wrestling match on Monday with games and picnics for all attendees.

River Front Improvement Plans Face Court Rulings

Editor notes suits are pending that may authorize the River Front Improvement Commission to remove signs and rubbish along the riverbanks between Fourth and Fifth street bridges. Electric park closes in six days with vaudeville finale
