Iowa Road Building Progress Slows but Advances
Iowa farmers and tourists now enjoy 314 miles more of federalaid highways than a year ago. The year ending June 36 saw $4,076,507 in total cost with $1,870,461 funded by the federal government. Current construction under the plan totals 434 miles, while 1,682 miles were completed before last year.

Charles City Pastor Granted Year's Leave for Health
Rev. J. H. Klaus, pastor of Central M. E. church in Charles City, requested a year of rest due to ill health. The church board granted the leave reluctantly. his successor will be appointed at the Chicago conference next week. Klaus will stay at home and has led the church 13 years with tripled membership and new church edifice.

Death of Oelwein Hardware Clerk Freeman Wheeler
Freeman Wheeler, a former hardware merchant long associated with Peltius Hardware, died Tuesday night in Oelwein Iowa after months of throat paralysis. He had required tube feeding for some time and had been weakening gradually. The obituary notes his prominence in the Oelwein community.
