Des Moines seeks 200 Italians and Negroes for government work
In Des Moines Aug 14 State Labor Commissioner Urick said a call has been received for 250 unskilled Italian and colored workers for government work, the second such specific call after a prior list for 1,200. Offices will open in Burlington and Fort Dodge, bringing federal-state employment offices to 13. Previous placements totaled 2,425. the first nine days of August added 3,282. Also draft age may rise to 45 under a pending bill.
