Adopting Waterloo street car design to modernize fleet
Waterloo council prepared to approve a recommended street car type with specifications for 20 cars at about 7700 each. The design features double trucks with caliper springs, low entry steps, 12 heaters, and 2.2 foot aisle width, plus a level floor and safety fenderless front. Illustrations show a single-step entrance and heated, rubber-door protection to reduce finger injuries. Deliveries expected within four to five months after approval, aligning with franchise requirements and extensions for new tracks.
