Kath eri Martens seeks a divorce from Henry Martens in Sioux City Iowa claiming ownership of a $2 000 automobile should be decided in the divorce action not in the husband s replevin suit started Friday She alleges years of inhumane treatment silence and an attempt to cut her off financially including a $400 gift and the sale of a 960 acre farm and stock Her petition seeks 2010 alimony 31000 to prosecute the suit 1000 attorney fees and property attachment plus an injunction.

Pay Last Tribute to Justice Gaynor

The Iowa Supreme Court pays final respects to Justice Gaynor who died at home aged 66. Family survivors include widow Arabi Judd and a daughter. Services at the home were followed by burial in Glendale Cemetery in the Masonic section.

Muscatine fruit crop imperiled by dry weather

Muscatine Iowa August reports show 22 days of drought harming melons and other fruit. A heavy rain last in mid July followed by insufficient precipitation threatens a paying melon crop. Buyers from Garland firms are in Muscatine, forecasting impact on Chicago and Twin Cities markets as dry weather continues.

Rainfall Sweeps Iowa Friday With Wide Varying Amounts

Des Moines and vicinity logged .69 inch while Van Meter measured 1.42 inches and Bronx City recorded .8 inch. The rains benefited corn across the state, especially in the south, arriving in time to help. The note adds that the United States had seven earthquakes in 1919.

Woman Killed as Trolley Hits Auto at Crossing

Mrs. Joseph Brower of a farm twelve miles southwest of Webster City was instantly killed when an interurban trolley struck the auto in which she and her husband rode. Brakes failed, weeds hid the crossing, and the collision near Flugstad sent the husband to hospital with serious injuries. The widow leaves three children and other relatives, including Cyril G. Manning of Des Moines. Manning, a former field secretary for the Iowa State Sunday School Association, was 63.
