Daniels of Waterloo Mission Rescues Bum Policy
In Rock Island on August 9 Superintendent Fred Daniels of the Waterloo Mission helped examine a mysterious envelope left with a stranger named Louis Lambert who claimed to be Davenport resident. The document cited a will leaving a Davenport farm and $5,000 in insurance with $1,000 to the Waterloo Mission and $150 to be opened in the presence of the son, the mission, and an insurance teller. Daniels advanced $16 on a dubious tale and Lambert vanished, leaving $150 misrepresented as insurance funds and a parrot and other items. The episode centers on the Davenport to Rock Island set of claims and the missing policy.
