Women Engine Wipers Sought at Sioux City Shops
In Sioux City Iowa August 3 a call goes out for women to fill men’s roles at the Chicago Milwaukee St Paul Railroad new Riverside shops. Ten women are sought for engine wiping in a dirty greasy job, with overalls supplied. White women are preferred though Negro women have some time in shop work. Mrs Lilian Larimore, head of the Government employment division, notes many applications from women for tasks once done by men and that they often prove capable for these heavier duties amid war demands.
