Red Cross funds debated in old chain-letter plan
A discussion in Washington state centers on using a chain-letter scheme to fund Red Cross hospital work for facial injuries. The plan pledges $2,000,000 from the Red Cross for every $1,090,000 raised, but a letter from Mr. Hough repudiates the claim. The piece notes geometric progression would require vast sums to reach the 100th series. An unrelated note mentions Ellen Beach Yaw, a soprano, at a Methodist church and a YWCA breakfast in Waterloo with 25 cent tickets.
