Plans for gas station and store in Waterloo
Plans for a combined gasoline filling station and store building to be erected at Commercial and Second streets by Dr. J. D. Cecil & Co. were completed by architect J. G. Ralston and will invite bids next week. The project follows a Standard Oil station proposed nearby and includes a 66 by 70 foot brick, fireproof structure with a drive, and new tanker and pump facilities as Waterloo expands its gasoline business amid growing automobile ownership.

It describes sun porches as valuable additions when affordable, and notes that good ventilation in small houses is achievable in cold weather by opening a window. In hot weather, room layout should allow prevailing winds to pass through, with kitchens receiving ample cross ventilation.
