Oliver Ward seven year old son of James Ward of Third and Rose streets was killed instantly when he jumped from a farm wagon and was struck by an Army truck at Southwest Ninth street and Cherry lane at 3 p.m. He and two companions rode on a wagon driven by B P Schooler of Norwalk Iowa. Schooler ordered them off and Oliver dropped into the truck’s path.
